Former Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia to join Centre for Public Impact Board of Trustees

LONDON, 16 February 2021 -- The Centre for Public Impact (CPI) is proud to announce today the appointment of former Mayor Michael Nutter to join the global Board of Trustees for the not-for-profit, which partners with governments, public servants and the diverse network of changemakers who are reimagining government. Having served as the 98th Mayor of the City of Philadelphia as well as President of the United States Conference of Mayors, Mayor Nutter has been a leader in local government innovation in the United States for over 30 years.

“At the Centre for Public Impact, we’re on a mission to help reimagine government so that it works for everyone. Mayor Nutter’s experience as a lifelong public servant and leader of one of America’s largest cities make him a standout choice to help guide us in our pursuit of that mission,” said Larry Kamener, CPI’s founder and chairman.

"I am honored to work with such an impactful organization. The Centre for Public Impact is taking on the tough issues that affect citizens and cities around the world. I look forward to supporting their important efforts as we seek to solve challenging issues with practical and innovative solutions," said Mayor Nutter.

In 2011, Esquire magazine named Mayor Nutter to its Americans of the Year list and in 2014, he was named Public Official of the Year by Governing magazine. During his tenure, Philadelphia City government received more than 150 awards for innovative programs, good government practices and excellence.

Since leaving elected office in 2016, Mayor Nutter has served on the Homeland Security Advisory Council and is currently the David N. Dinkins Professor of Professional Practice in Urban and Public Policy at Columbia University.
